The old Lahore

Lemontree, here's the renovation I was talking about in the old Lahore...

Hand an awesome time, with Seekh Kababs, Tikkay, Poori, Naan,

Gawalmandi!

A desi version of a Pizza I think

An old Gali (street), still awaiting renovation

Areas prepped to be converted into thabas I think.

Entrance to Gawalmandi

Green Tea or Kashmiri Chai

Just to prove how old this street is, its still got some Hindi from the pre-partition days, I think VidyaNivas means school

Kata Kut!

Paa ji aapki smartness ka kya raaz hai

Paan ke Pattay

No Asim, "VidyaNiwas" is the name of a house that many have existed there. Like "Somerset House", "Ashley House". 'Vidya'(it also means knowledge) is also a common name, and 'niwas' means residence.

Excellent - I love those older buildings, in Karachi, some of them seem like archeological artefacts, because one can date the styles and new construction added to the old.

Mr. Aqil, did you do any adhoc interviews, man on the street, type stuff which you could also post - I think it would a interesting litte picture of the neighborhoods, a small window...

Anyway, keep up the good work.

Asim,
The pics of old Lahore look very similar to the gullies and lanes of old Lucknow.

True tarek, the people need to preserve these old structutes as heritage buildings. In my city Mumbai (i prefer to call it Bombay), may old buildings including privately owned houses have been classified as heritage structures. They cannot be broken by builders and replaced with ugly skyscrapers.
