The architecture at a few places is admirable.

Note of caution
The true of picture of the sub-continent is rarely shown.
Neither in India,Pakistan or any other SAARC country do good looking cities reflect
the true state of the whole country.

Go to any booming Indian/Pakistani city drive 25 kilometers out of it.
There lives the Indian/Pakistani who needs the nations support most.
And it aint any different in any other SAARC country.

However , i can vouch for my country.Our poverty levels are going down.
Yet , much much much needs to be done in RURAL parts of the sub continent.
There is so much needed and so little done.

All the above statements dont mean , I am here admiring the BBC reports that
are so happy(and unfailingly) to point out the "rising levels of poverty" ,"XXX millions without saliva in their mouth to drink". Better things are happening , and many of them are helping the poor.

Am i looking at a few INDIAN made cars there ?

I disagree a little. All I see from the media covering India and Pakistan are donkeys, rubbish on the streets, kids which look like skeletons, the real picture is neither this nor it is that. It's a composite of the two. One of the things that pisses me off is the media's inability to underscore the effort put into their nation by developers in South Asia. We're here changing just that. I know someone (An Indian) from PDF who does this too, but hasn't been able to get a proper launching pad for it in the shape of a website.

In how many English movies, we've seen India being mentioned as synonymous to extreme backwardness like some defaulted nation, living on aid? When they hear India's Forex are above $125Bn they're in shock!

When they hear Pakistan the first thing that comes to their minds are fat ugly chicks, which need to be covered from head to toe. When they see models like Amina Haq or see Pakistani TV they go ummmm khwar...

There's already an Army working to ruin Pakistan and India's image, claiming that is the real picture... We're just a handful bunch, showing you other facets and making no claims.

About the cars, well u know most of the cars in India/Pakistan (Mehran or Maruti or Tata's or Daaleh) they're all selling basically Suzuki cars under different names.

I'm not a firm believer in charity... After all you can only kill poverty with progress. A government that makes pro-poor policies would just end up making the nation poorer. Pro-Rich policies makes the public fight for the top spot harder n harder.

For example, the current Pakistani government, went ahead and subsidized the prices on petrol, to keep it cheap in Pakistan whereas in the rest of the world the prices were sky rocketting. They claim they incurred a burden of 40 Billion rupees and took it off the public. IMO they just lost 40 Bn$ and have now been forced to lift the subsidies, ultimately.

Pro-charity policies can only work for so long. I cannot help the poor man by making the world sympathetic towards him, just so someone can lend him a buck or two. If that man never gets that will in him to fight his ass off to reach the top, he probably never will.
