Why IAF uses both Mig-27 and Jaguar and produced them in-country ? they seem to be quite the same era, capabilities , role etc. Why do you use 2 so similar A/C - are there different roles for them?

I think Mig 27 is used for CAS while jag is used for deep penetration strikes. I could be wrong though.
