Reminds me of a similar goof up but this time I complemented the looks and the attire of one of my Chinese buddies and told him that he looks cool like a Japanese popstar. He never talked to me for the next one year, happens that he is a diehard nationalist and had taken offence at my comparing him with the "evil" Japanese
![]() Again last week, I assumed that the new student at my Mandarin Language class is a Japanese and I said "Arigato Gozaimasu" for clearing some desk space. He replied that he was a Korean and the look on his face suggested that he wasn't happy either.....
