MAGTF to Afghanistan?
3,000 Marines to Afghanistan?
A.P. makes it sound like a done deal but within the article it's not as clear. Gates has opposed a relentless marine assault to turn this into their private war. Yeah, overboard, but the U.S.M.C. has been unusually persistent with it's insistance that they're uniquely configured to do this mission. I dunno. The air assets are nice but w/ a huge log tail and they're only bringing in one bn. of infantry. Supposedly one-time seven month deployment.
