As I said far more diplomatic than me well done Sir, actually I knew the Col would be far more knowledgable about this person Wallace than I, but one thing was obvious his military knowledge is nil.

Should raw analytical data ever be passed to policy makers?

So by this fool's "logic" Canadian troops should continue to ride around in unarmored vehicles because we wouldn't dare ecalate the situation. Last time I checked, we're at war, it doesn't get much more escalated than that.

Rule #1 - listen to the Sgts. They know how to make a thing work or at the very least, know when to throw it out of the way.

When our boys first landed in Afghanistan, that was the official reasoning behind our Iltis jeeps. The Iltis lacked armour, and the crew was always in danger of small arms fire, let alone a mine or an RPG.

i remember when we first went to Afghanistan, watching the news, a reporter asked a politician about wether or not the Iltis was safe enough for the soldiers, in that kind of environment. That Politician went on to say that the Iltis (along with our jungle green camo in a desert environment!) showed the local Afghans that we are hear for peace, and not to oppress them.

    - Of course, the real reasoning was that the Liberals were to dam cheap to replace the Ilitis.

Well, that reasoning sure was thrown out fast, when an Iltis and its occupants were litterally vaporized by an anti-tank mine.

well it sure as hell aint a jungle environment, I think you know what Im getting at. Afghanistan may not be a desert, but it is arid, with lots of sand and mountains.
