    That's BB-61 Iowa, right?

Yeah, it's Iowa. The website has pics of BB-61, 62, 63 and 64, and the addy for this says BB-61.

Perhaps we could use battleships if they were designed to carry cruise missiles. Are those battleships with the big guns really that useful anymore?

I'd say a floating fortress with GPS guided 11" shells that can go 200 miles is pretty effective. With new barrel linings we could fire a couple thousand rounds a day. Delivering far more fire power for a far cheaper price then even B-52 fleet.

WE HAVE ENOUGH SHIPS THAT CAN CARRY CRUISE MISSILES!

In fact we have 5 times more holes to put them then they have missiles.

They can already carry 32 by the way which is plenty.

Yeah, but Iowa's and the rounds they fire are limited to a fixed trajectory. Cruise missiles can be air-launched, and they can climb, dive and turn.

Why would it need to dive and turn?

It would have some controlability because of GPS guidence.

Cruise Missiles also cost over 5 times as much.

Cruise missiles have massive range, a 1000 lb warhead, and if the radar station is on a mountain, the BB-61 might not be able to hit it. I'm only playing devil's advocate here

I doubt there are many on top of mountains, but many are situated on high ground.

It's the same everywhere. If you control high-ground, you control more area

Something like 75% of the infrastructure of the 3rd world is within range of the Iowa's guns without any upgrades at all...
