Georgian warship was sunk by Malakhit (ss-n-9, predecessor of ss-n-22) during last year conflict. But out of the large verity of the true ship-killer giants how many Soviet/Russian type of anti-ship missile have been combat tested and proven???

Also don't forget the Battle of Latakia in 1973, the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971, Iran-Iraq and the Gulf War.
the current Tomahawk is not setup to do anti-shipping, (it dosn't have an active seeker warhead.. you could program it to hit a ship tied to a dock though, but if it's underway, not a chance.. BUT there are plans and money spent to convert the TLAM-E(the current Tomahawk) into a missile that can hit ships..
I can go on for an hour about this. It seems like is easier to develop an anti-ship missile than it is to develop a weapon system to defeat it. You can always determine the biggest threat by what resourses (money, training) we expend to counter it. Only thing I can tell you in this forum is what we have developed to counter the current threats: C-802/SS-N-19 "Shipwreck" = SM-2 Block III A, SS-N-22 "Sunburn" = SM-2 Block III B, MU-1 (manuverablility upgrade), SS-N-27 "Sizzler" (Klub Class) = SM-2 Block III B MU-2. The Klubs are bad-ass missiles, pull heavy G's, have a seperation vehicle at close range and puts a premium on radar performance, but our PKI (Probability of Kill) is good.
