To keep it going.
In addition to an Ensign, this warship flies a Black flag.

Bring quiet for some time hear on this sticky....
So here is a trivia question referring to the Fletcher DD thread.
Name the typical 8-man crew on the "Watch of the Bridge" for a WWII Fletcher Class DD.
The first position is Captain, what are the other seven ?![]()

To make mistakes is human. To blame someone else for your mistake, is strategic.
You mean the Seven Dwarfs, yes?

Mhmm...I think this hopefully will be a good way to bump this thread. Before I post the picutres from yesterday at Slater; I want to see if anyone has an idea on what went on/what we tried to use was!
1. It uses DC power -
2. Through a little viewing window on what we are trying to run (Its outside this piece of equipment) -
3. With the back of it opened up (after running it for a minute or two) -

Something to do with communication/signalling?
Yes, one of its uses was for signalling.
A carbon arc signal light. The peephole has a very dark glass in it because the arc between the carbon rods is brighter than sunlight. The purpose of the peephole is to check to see if the gap and position between the two carbon rods is correct.
Actually I'm sort of guessing. I've never run a "small" signal light but in my "salad days" I ran 60-inch diameter searchlights for an advertising company. All of them used carbon rods to produce the arc centered at the focal point of a parabolic mirror.
The parabolic mirror behind the carbon rods is plated with Rhodium. Rhodium never oxidizes, retains a mirror finish and (at least in the 1940's to 1960's) was more expensive than pure Gold.
Able to leap tall tales in a single groan.
Let's see how long this one goes before being identified.
Hope it hasn't been used before...

Among the community of nations, Pakistan today stands out on one hand as a petty thug brandishing a dangerous weapon, and at other times as a concubine, sleeping with anyone willing to pay for her expensive tastes. ~ Tarek Fatah
