I started life designed to make use of Poseidon's newest weapon, but I am most definitely not a submarine. I am older than Hermes, and like Apollo I chased the sun across the sky but I am not ancient, the modern world order was built on the promise of my future, I am Western not Asian. I was number 1, I changed the world more than HMS Dreadnought, but now I am forgotten.... who am I?

    correct,
the story of the landing party is amazing, the only sailors of Von Spee's squad who made it back to Germany without being POWs.

You are on the right track but no its not HMS Argus, she too was a evolution. This ship is a true first.

The USS Norton Sound that fired the first Polaris and Poseidon missiles? It was also the first ship fitted out with a VLS module to test that system.

    Nope

The French ship Foudre (western not Asian) was built as a torpedo boat tender (Poseidon's newest weapon, not a submarine), then after the invention of the sea plane in 1910 she was converted to a sea plane carrier in 1911 as the first vessel is history to carry heavier than air aircraft (chase apollo across the sky, changed the word more than HMS dreadnought) of any type.

    Open question.

If you are thinking of the Arizona, that would be wrong as she has been taken over by the National Parks Service and no longer in commission as a US Navy ship. However, Navy memorials are still held over her as if she was still in commission which leads to the confusion.
