I would guess that anyone who has spent that many years trying to save her would have at least some tunnel vision....
ADVENTURER is being pulled out of the drydock now, for those who want to watch.
Jaross carries some baggage. A bit of a cynical attempt to get a much better ship for nothing rather than through open bidding. ESCO also mentioned maybe a nice "destroyer" tender at Suisun right now. There are two sub tenders so maybe he is talking about the Holland. I bet they would love that one since she still carries a complete heavy duty machine shop and won't have to bid against anyone. Slick...
As for the Glacier I'm sure the hull is in fine shape as she is built. I disagree with the elderly fellow about how clean she is inside. There are clean areas and really bad areas so maybe he has tunnel vision a little.

Tug OCEAN EAGLE is hauling ADVENTURER off to Brownsville.
No. ESCO is on the North Side of the Brownsville Ship Channel. (All Star is also, but further down the channel towards the ocean) ISL is caddy corner to ESCO on the South side of the channel. Marine Metals is also on the South Side a few blocks over from ISL. I've actually driven down to Brownsville before to take pictures and buy a few small pieces off of the ships they were scrapping.
AGENT is on the way over to Mare Island and will be showing up on the drydock cam in an hour or so.
AGENT is the last of the four C3-S3-8a type breakbulkers, and also the last of the current batch of ships scheduled for dismantling. We should be seeing NEREUS next, though no date for her removal from Suisun Bay has yet been announced.
It's simply amazing the speed at which these recent five ships have been processed.
If Glacier is not saved it will be a sad day to document her final trip as she passes through the Panama Canal. :(
Sea Shadow bid coming to a close this Friday, May 4th.
Scrap heap may be last stop for secret slice of Navy history - History - The Sacramento Bee
GLACIER is scheduled to leave tomorrow, after some delay needed to place cofferdams around her sea chests. I haven't heard anything more about the Glacier Society, so I guess that's it.
The USS EDSON museum has received 38,000 lbs of anchor chain from ESCO Marine: MLive.com story. I wonder which ship this came from?
GLACIER is about to depart drydock, in case anyone wants to watch.
