I guess the first ship must have been doing sea trial for a while. Are there any news on what kind of anti air missile system has been installed? Arm launcehed version of Shtil or the VLS version? Or even Barak 2? Those are what I have heard before.
There are some heated debate in chinese forums on what kind of system is used. I guess now we can have a final answer.
I think our ship builders takes quite a long time to build these warships.
SAM System could be SA-17+Barak-1 or SA-19.
P17 was once spotted almost finished 6-8 months ago in dock by google earth, its not there since then, I'm sure going through sea trials.
I also wonder what anti-missile system it'll get... possibly VLS Shtil, btw I can post pictures of P17 , P28 ASW corvette which is a entirely Indian design and the new carrier...as appeared a month or two back in a magazine.
Barak 2 might be test fired this year and range as mentioned in MOD report head on against a small low flying missile sized target will be possibly around 70 kms roughly.
