Well, there were even faster designs the giant WIGs armed with six Moskit (SS-N-22 Sunburn). It had range of 3,000km.... flying 5 meters altitude.... but could pop up to 7.5km altitude... I don't know if it could launch its missiles from that altitude but it is defininetelly good design for a complex protecting shores...

If 4-5 Lun go for coordinated attack being guided by Tu-95RTS and covered by fighters they can make a deadly salvo of 24-30 Sunburns from 120km. Such a complex could have kept enemy at least 1000km from your shores....

Well B.S.M.(Black Sea Monster) as US intelligence call it had some big problems for fighting ship. Controling of W.I.G. crafts is its biggest problem. Turning radius was huge also big atlantic waves will be problem too. W.I.G. are much better as very fast and cheaper transport than aircraft transport. Maybe I am wrong but W.I.G. could drive over any surface when it reach optimal speed. But I dont understand who soliders would get out if craft is going around 300km/h?This is also big problem beacuse aircraft could lend deep in enemy teritory while wig need some water to lend. Maybe it could use for some kind of hibid transport. wig get on 1km and drop paratroppers or cargo.Or for black operation wig with helois. From 5m helios rise from wig near on 50km from shore.Wig stay to wait helios. This is fastest response today. Of course this helio scenarios works only against countries without good obseravation network.
I read that Boing is building for army W.I.G. with capability of 1000 Tonnes.
Also wig could be much cheaper passangers transport over atlantic and pacific than aircraft.

The top images are of a Surface Effect Ship (I think thats the U.S. name for them). Basically I think it's a catamaran with air being blown in between the two hulls so that the craft sits really high in the water and reduces friction. Several countries have been testing them for years and there are a few operational ones out there.

from what I read it is not afraid of waves.... but stormy WIND. However it can fly away from storm in an aircraft mode... in this mode it has very high fuel consumption!

turning radius can be small when it is on water!
