Since we are talking about CWIS, Has anyone been keeping up with the C-RAM program?

I know the Army tested them last year at Yuma and I think 2 R2D2s went to Iraq not long ago. Any word on the program?
Its called Tourist Season. So why can't we shoot them?

Hard to believe that would be anything but death ray accurate against speed boats at 1000 yds or less.
That later version came out long after my retirement so I was unfamiliar with it. It is good to hear though that a CIWS can be operated against "unusual" targets (an incoming missile being classified as "usual" target).

Is this some sort of replacement for the Vulcan, like the DIVADS was supposed to be? If so, great, we need it.

(edit)Googled it. Apparently not exactly. Maybe it would have some AAW capability in addition to taking out missiles and mortars?

I enjoy being wrong too much to change my mind.

Well, after the given cancellation of the 4th ship to be constructed, I'd thought people may want to give a look over the above pdf (such as comparative manning requirements baseline and when augmented with various asw/asuw modules...)

    LCS-1 got RAM

    LCS-2 got SeaRam

Both got Mk-44s for surface threats

So why did you have to open a 3 yr old dead thread to ask that question when LCS is the subject o a current thread?

Because it was a topic of the original thread, and I was reading through this one, and happen to ask my question in this thread? Didn't want to create a new thread for this one question. And secondly, I was going to elaborate more on the original document posted. When I had time in the coming days and compare it too today, three years later. And compare the past program too todays and what differences were made.

Really must I justify that? I can't bring up a post, and compare it too today WRT too the Document that was posted in the OP? Manning requirments and such... etc and compare it too today, and update the post?

Or should I just create a new one? Or post a comparison in another thread when it relates too this one?
