Folklore: "Philadelphia Experiment"
Figured I'd post something everyone could have fun with.
![]() Its is a popular myth/conspiracy theory that the experiment was an attempt to make a naval ship invisible. Any thoughts or ideas about how this story started and what the actual results from the experiment where? From what I've read it was an early attempt to degauss the ship to negate its magnetic field and make it more difficult to detect. Although I haven't found any mention of what if any success the experiment had. Regardless of whatever happened it certainly attracted alot of attention and speculation. http://www.history.navy.mil/faqs/faq21-1.htm http://www.viewzone.com/philadelphia.html http://www.unmuseum.org/philex.htm |
