China To Purchase The US Navy's Only Nuclear Fuel Provider?

If the rumors are true, PetroChina, a Chinese “Government Controlled Entity” (pdf), is on the verge of buying McDermott International, a company that, as I understand things, is the U.S. Navy’s sole provider of nuclear fuel and nuclear fuel assemblies.

McDermott, a Panama “based” corporate tax-avoider, also manages the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve. (along with a lot of other critical national defense infrastructure).

I wonder if we'll see legislative protests similar to Dubai Ports, LTD's attempted purchase of a US port and the CNOCC's purchase of a US oil company a couple of years ago?

Doubt its going to happen either. National Security interests and numerous arguments over bail outs and the ofcoarse there is Gates.

When Haier wanted to buy a US refrigerator maker back in 2006, all hell broke lose. Also, same thing happened to 76 when it was on sell.
