With you on that.

Nice post Ctom .

I wouldn't even dishonor a barge by naming it the USS Clinton. If anyone is to name a ship after Clinton, maybe China should.

Name aside...I'd be tempted to take a single F-14 Tomcat on a barge into combat any day over a Nimitz with 48 Bugs and Super Bugs

You can have all the F-14s you want, it will break your national budget fast, and leave air superiority to the nation that has a more reliable, cheaper to opperate fighter. The F-18 has only one real weakness compared to the F-14, range, and that was largely made up by the F-18E/F, with the bonus of MUCH higher operational availability. Bottom line, on non-stealth tactical fighter is about equal to another non-stealth tactical fighter when they both have advanced air search radars and AMRAAMs. And the F-18 can carry a much greater variety of ordnance. The F-14D was a big improvement over the F-14A/B, which was a great air superiority fighter in the 1970's and 80's, but is long since obsolete in the 21st century.

Wow, first of all...notice the nature of the post, and then the nature of the thread. It was a JOKE so take it easy ok.

Second of all, I disagree with you. Range, Payload, Speed, Radar Capability...and on. The F-14 Tomcat had a number of areas where it bested the F/A-18. They were designed to fill different roles, so we can expect this. And yes, the Rhino is an improvement over the Hornet, but still does not match the Tomcat in some areas, and yes, it beats the Tomcat in others.

Well that cannot be true, how else could we have all the 'vs' threads here on WAB
