FB Design MIL 38

The hull of this boat derives from the FB 38’ RACING, winner of many Offshore World Championships. The new special deck is studied for a twin diesel engine installation. This boat can be powered with different engines, from 2 x 220 Hp up to 2 x 420 HP. In this case the top speed is about 66 knots. The bow is derived from the racing experience of FB Design boats, all using anti stuffing fins which enhance the seaworthiness by preventing the boat from nose diving in heavy seas.

Fitted with 2 Yanmar 360 Hp engines, ZF 2 speed gearboxes and ZF Trimax® integrated G-Drive, the FB 38’ in the version dedicated to the Coast Guard can reach the top speed of 60 knots. The crew is protected by a reinforced hard-top, heated by a diesel fuel Webasto heater.
The project is studied for a total flexibility of the deck, mainly for military use, with cabin, hard top and various seats layouts from 4 special Tecno dampered adjustable seats, which increase safety and comfort allowing easy continuous use of the boat, even in rough conditions of the basic version up to 15 passengers, who can disembark very quickly thanks to the special bow shape and to the double stairs.

The special patented omega section spars give the hull an extreme stiffness thanks to their high moment of inertia combined with compact dimensions and lightweight.

The integrated ZF Trimax surface drives system involves a special dedicated transom tail, which reduces the metallic surfaces in the water, for a drastic reduction of galvanic corrosion. Besides ease of control and servicing, the tail improves the stern buoyancy and the efficiency when reversing, thanks to the increase in stern volume and the anti cavitating surface. The same integrated logic applies to the trim tabs, that have pistons, pipes, fittings and flaps indicator inside the boat. The special investment casting process and the AISI 316 stainless steel used ensure a long corrosion free life.
