You guys are off your rockers. The old Battlestar Galactica ruled.
They had laser pistols, not FiveseveNs. They weren't just pilots. They were Colonial Warriors. Their Vipers had laser cannons, not machineguns. Apollo, Starbuck, Boomer, Jolly, were their names, not their call signs. What kind of name is Lee Adama? The old Adama was a wise military and civilian leader all rolled into one. He didn't have to listen to some school teacher with visions of grandeur. I do like the new Adama though. He's one of the few redeeming features of the new show. Old Colonel Tigh wasn't a drunk. Where the hell is Cassiopeia? I suppose they made this up with Number 6, but still... Old Starbuck was a cocky, suave, womanizer. The new one is a drunk with baggages and flies off the handle once a month. Where's Athena? Where's Sheba? The old Commander Cain was a legendary war hero in the mold of Patton, not some psycobiatch running a gulag on Battlestar Pegasus. And most important of all: The old Apollo didn't have to pay for sex. The few redeeming features of the new show: Adama. Cylons. And of course... Last edited by gunnut : 04-05-2006 at 15:10 PM. |

Dang, I guess I'll have to watch that show. That one-armed blonde chick is hot.

In the plus column you can add 1 more Wasp-class LHD (Makin Island) that should be joining the fleet in another year or so, and 1 more Nimitz-class carrier building (George HW Bush of course). |

theres one solution to this carrier.....JSF+Harpoon. Still anyways china still operates a blue water navy. They still need more if they're going to attack taiwan and not only that the chinese military is restricted in the mobility department. Taiwan should get modern sams,JSF's, and advanced anti ship missiles anda whole lot of other things because china will soon be able to invade they need a good upgrade to their military.

Taiwan bought 2 Dutch subs in the 90s and had plan to buy 8 more. But the Dutch government succumbed to China's pressure and canceled the deal. France sold 6 La Fayettes (platform only), 60 Mirage 2000/5s, and associated gear to Taiwan in the 90s. Then China expressed their displeasure and there had been no subsequent sales since. The best route for Taiwan to go right now to deter a Chinese invasion is with subs. Subs are force multipliers. Just the thought of one in the water can tie down large number of assets and hinder ongoing operations. US is in the planning stages of building 8 SSKs for Taiwan. I don't know if these will be new designs or modified old US SSK designs. Or even European (Dutch?) designs. |

It seems that nobody in Europe wants to upset Beijing, and the US doesn't have any plans for conventionals. |

Can Canada afford to operate SSNs? I'm sure they aren't exactly cheap to operate. |
