Amphibious Warfare etc
Preliminary thoughts will flesh out in good time.
Lets take a look now at first Amphibious-warfare , mine-warfare and logistics platforms. The USN once again is in a league of its own when it comes to amphibious-warfare. Russia,China, and India dont fare as well like in other categories. Having only 17, 13 and 3 LST type ships respectively and none in the LPD/LSD or LPH/LHA/LHD categories. Many navies have a handful of LST type ships. Most LST type ships range in displacement from about 4000-8000fl. <USN> 12+1+1 LHA/LHD 40000fl (Larger than the other Light Carriers and Amphibious Assault Carriers of all other nations with the exception of the Russian-built Kunetsov and Gorshkov. They are about the same size as the French CdeG carrier with the exception of flight deck dimensions.) 0+12 LPD 25000fl(replacing the LPD ships listed below) 10 LPD 17000fl 12 LSD 16000-17000fl LST type ships are no longer in USN service. <UK> 1 LPH 22000fl(Harrier capable) 2 LPD 17000fl 0+4 LPD 1600fl (built to commercial standards and crewed by civilians)(will replace 4 of the 5 LST ships listed below) 1 LST 9000fl 1 LST 7000fl 3 LST 6000fl <France> 0+2 LHA/D 22000fl(not intended to operate fixed-wing aircraft) 2 LSD 12000fl 2 LSD 9000fl(to be decommissioned soon) <Spain> 0+1 LHA/D 28000fl(Harrier capable) 2 LPD 12000fl 2 ex-USN LST 8000fl <S.Korea> 0+2 LHA/D 20000fl?? 9 LST 4000fl <Japan> 3+1 LPD 15000fl 3 LST 3000fl <Netherlands> 1+1 LPD 13000fl <Italy> 3 LPD 8000fl <Brazil> 2 ex-USN LSD 12000fl 1 ex-USN LST 8000fl <Austrailia> 2 Modified ex-USN LST into small LPH 9000fl 1 UK-design LST 6000 <Taiwan> 1 ex-USN LSD 14000fl 2 ex- USN LST 8000fl |

I read in AFPC article that PLAN, in latest logisitics exercise, practiced firing SAMs from civilian cargo ships. shows PLAN lack of true amphibious force, but, as a result, ingenuity in finding solution: load up "civilian" (all are really owned by Gov anyway) ships and rush the enemy beach. SAMs on deck.
