I still have a number of hard hats, probably 3 or 4. In 9 years my shop when from blue, to magenta to lime green hats.

We used to deal with Safety Issue all the time for our coveralls, respirators, etc., and they were really good people. These were the same people who also ran the tool cribs on the piers and I never had sign for a tool.

Dont that mean you never had to bring back a tool?

I brought back most of the tools. The "disposable" types of items like the 1" x 2" x 8" sharpening stones or large aural protectors, I kept. Most of my hand tools were the same ones I used for 20 years.

I still have a tool box which I keep my gallon containers of flammable liquids in, my own personal Hazmat locker.

That's to keep private boats away not only for the safety of the passengers but to prevent "Midnight Requisitioners" from boarding and stealing anything of copper or brass.

That's why we are still searching for the two helmsman's wheels of the Iowa as they were made of brass and are missing.

I'd vote to have some large dogs put on board. Just put chicken wire across the hand rails like they do when the ship is in drydock, and let the dogs run free.

I have two dogs in the 50 to 60 lb range -- each. Problem is, if they "attacked" you the worst you would get would be two very wet tongues on each cheek.

We are hoping that the decommissioning crew merely removed the wheels and stored them someplace on the ship. We searched several (normally off limits) compartments and opened several wood crates of parts. There are very few compartments we have not inspected. But it may be that we haven't looked in the SIMPLEST of places.

I wouldn't be surprised if the wheels were hanging in someone's garage. cRusty, what do your garage walls look like?

The only copper-based items in my garage are old sprinkler heads who have seen better days.
