I was fortunate enough to get aboard her a few years ago while visiting Philidelphia.Too bad she's not currently sailing the seas now. The Enterprise has been referred to as the fastest surface combatant in the Navy, and in fact she holds a speed record and the cruise jackets from that trip reflect that....I had one that was subsequently destroyed in a fire. She was on her way to the Persian Gulf in teh late 80's or early 90's...

I'm back from Vallejo. We could not find the Magnetic Compass on Iowa as it was removed and stored somewhere else. The MARAD office on a berthing barge where we sign in at has a compass on display but was built by a different company.

We only had two days to inspect the ship, but without interference from city representatives needing briefings on the Navy way vs. the City way (such as fire fighting) we got a lot more done.

I have to really hustle now to revise and finalize my report so it can be used as part of the bid for donation.
