1,54% liquidators died, who many firefighters died in 11.09.01 form NY firefighters?
They knew that there is possibilty of Tower colapse but noone said I dont what to go.
ISTR that there were a number of people (Helicopter pilots and IIRC one of the guys in charge of clearing the roof) who knowingly exposed themselves to extremely high radiation doses in order to get the job done quicker, despite knowing it would almost certainly kill them in short order. Perhaps not terribly bright, but unarguably very brave. I would suggest that these people would make up rather a high percentage of the casualties, and that this is somewhat misleading as they were in apparently not forced to do so.

I made mistake and is some earlier post I said :Cold water wake is only good in Pacific, possible reactor heat is only good in Atlantic(I doubt that submarine which rise form 200m to 20m is hot for detection).

I don't doubt that there were heavily protected workers at Chernobyl. I'm not saying they were sent in wearing sweatpants and a t-shirt. I'm stating that the Soviet government had a proven and consistent history of disregarding it's citizens lives and well-being in many different avenues due to it's f--ked up priorities. Whether it's recklessly rushing a class of nuclear submarine into service regardless of the dangers to it's sailors or sending in SOME liquidators to Chernobyl without adequate protection against the hazards and then denying them compensation after the fact.

Oh please You're comparing prolonged exposure to lethal radiation caused by a shoddy reactor and/or idiotic plant operators to 9-11?
I'm also not saying that the United States and other countries don't have any shameful events in their history. I'm saying that the Soviet system practically institutionalized that sort of thing.

Project 941 (Typhoon) submarines were deployed in 1981-1989. The total of six submarines of this class were built. Submarines of this class carry the D-19 missile system with 20 R-39 (SS-N-20) missiles. Since the missiles have reached end of their service lives, Project 941 submarines have been withdrawn from service. The only exception is the lead ship of the class, TK-208 Dmitry Donskoy, which has been refitted for a new missile system, Bulava.

RE Francois

Partly true.
They can change D-19 with Bulava like ТК-208 but it will cost them much and more important Typhoons are most expensive subs for logistic, so this is bigger reason for retairement than D-19, I would like to see who much money was spent in USSR in one year on one Typhoon, it easly can reach big part of price of new Delta IV sub.

RE TopHatter

I am not Russian so I cant talk about Soviet system and little people, but what I hear form Moroz and Firral it isnt so black as many people think.
I dont compare 11-9 with Chernobil, I was giving example that when something like Chernobil or 11-9 happed liquidators or Firefighters never think about possible danger, they just what to save as much lives as they can.
