The tranche 2 EF2000s the UK will deliver to SA were reserved for export. As in one of the posts stands, the UK will anyhow get the planned number of jets later.
The reason why the deal is made by the UK is that the negotiations of the Eurofighter Consortium are always done by the country which has the best diplomatic relations to the customers country. In this case it is the UK, as well as it was Germany and EADS who made the deal with Austria. The negotiations with Turkey will be done by Italy.

The numbers of jets wanted by SA are differing very much.
The following source says that SA wants to buy more than 200 Typhoons (last 2 sentences).

Ofcourse, but most of the time it didnt bite their a$$es. They drained out the colonial empires and left, which IMO makes them the best.

Perhaps earlier variants,,, I couldn't imagine they'd replace their F-15S aircraft as they aren't very old relatively speaking.
