Yet Wiki confirms the terms existance- which you have denied. Wiki also clearly names the S.Hornet as a 4.5- like every other source i linked.

Why are you debating based on fact instead of accusation now Darth?

Sure you don't wanna call me a liar again?

Admit you were wrong. Be a man.

It matters for three reasons. One is accuracy. Two is for historical purposes. Understanding the history behind the design philosiphy allows for context. The third reason is to prevent misunderstandings. Misunderstandings that cause people to believe in capabilities that do not exist.

That same article says this: "This half-generation has been coined to describe the current generation of fighters in service...A prime example of this generation is the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet, an upgrade of the 1970s Hornet design."

You know I did quite a bit to try and smooth your way onto this board.

I told you repeatedly that offering even a general biography would give you reams of credibility here.

I told you repeatedly that we have a chronic problem with fakers. It doesn't even matter anymore if you are who you say you are.

I told you repeatedly to ignore Sniper if you didn't like his style.

Guess I must have been talking to brick wall. Did I ever tell you how much I hate talking to a brick wall?

Exatcly, why are you making such a big fuss out of nothing?

So what if Boeing claims that the Super Hornet is a 5th Generation platform? It's a global market and there fighting for market share. However, it's widely accepted as being in the same class as the Eurofighter, Rafale, and SU-30MKI.

By your definition, India's LCA would qualify as a 5th Generation design purely from a time standpoint as opposed to which capabilities it brings to bear. Regardless of the enviroment dynamics.

Hell, same goes with the Chinese J-10. Eventhough, both, are not in the same class as the F-22 and JSF. Hell, there not even in the same class of that of the Hornet. But, by your definition, they would warrant a 6th generation tag. Which is severly faulty. Time has nothing to do with it. It's the enviroment they shape and leaps over previous designs which warrants a generation. Of course you will find nothing offical on this jargon. It's just somthing us junkies can argue about.
