Researchers unearthed large portions of Bud Wolfe's (an American) Spitfire, which crashed into an Irish bog in 1941, and fired one of the Browning .303 machine guns. Watch the video, it's worth the time. And of course, always entertaining, the comments at the bottom of the article.

A few picked up on it, but the Browning was a U.S. design, although manufactured at BSA.

This was when Great Britain was ,,Great , the engine was/is a masterpiece which im lucky enough to have driven in my Cent Mk 6/2 then up to Mk 13 brill motor ,but as we all know ALL engineering can develop faults , I hope they can get enough to re'create the Spit and hopefully fly again , or Hendon museum .
