if they are smart, 2-3 spare keyboards are part of the onboard "spare parts" set.

Onboard spares take up a lot of room. It's doubtful they'd carry spare keyboards, US AWACS don't. They'll carry parts that affect multiple stations, or systems integral to the overall mission. Radar or radio gear, something like that. If a scope fails, you lose a small part of your capability. If the radar fails, things just got a lot more difficult. Radios, things just became impossible. You have to assess how valuable each of those parts is, and is it worth the space. These jets don't have a lot of open room.

The early KB101's were pretty good, but the Clavier's were the best. And you couldn't wear off the legends, they were molded into the key.
funny about that. I ended up keeping a batch of IBM Keytronic PS2 keyboards. They have that industrial clack and basically don't want to die.

Old school IBM hardware... had to use AT/XTs to program. At one tme I spent 3 months doing about 20-30 reboots a day. Since they didn't have reboot buttons, I had to hit the power switch... 20-30 times a day, 5 days a week, for 3 months.

I think it would take a nuke to kill them... and even then...
