India has ordered a total of 41 F404 plus 99 F414 for LCA.

Well, the Defense Department, defines any 4th generation fighter with an AESA radar as being 4.5 generation, so any AESA equipped Tejas would be 4.5 gen, I suppose.

As of now, the kaveri engine is still testing/ troubleshooting, with Snecma help. "Expected to be ready" by 2015. More like 2018. Till then all LCA (Mk1, Mk2 Naval) will be made using the F404 (first 40) or the F414 engines.
