EODAS(or das) IS NOT EOTS. Can't you discriminate the differences? I never say there is a EOTS on j-20.
J-20 is a pure air-control fighter, not like f35 that is a multifunctional fighter can deal with surface targets.
EOTS that locate on lower hemispherical of f-35's airframe, its main function is obviously a suface tagates sensor system. J-20 do not need that.

I have to post a pic of f35 to explain where EODAS(or DAS) windows on f-35 is.

Isn't it a bit early to start fitting out the prototype with EOTS?

Unless the flight tests actually started a year or two earlier than we all thought.

    Skywatchter,

    My thoughts also, very early.

    Tomluter,

Do we really know that the J-20 is only going to be used for A2A? It is rare to design a A2A fighter with no ground or surface attack capability. The F-22, EF, Rafale, and Pak-FA are all primarily A2A but all have or will have some A2G capability. I would expect the same from the J-20. Have you heard otherwise?

As I know, j-20's only purpose is A-A ,so far at the least.

There are not any evidence can prove fully version of EOTS system test or research in China.
But there are lot sources of EODAS. Even some sub-system of it have already served on fc-1 fighter(a initial distributed-infrared-sensor), actually it is some kind of test and verify, few people noticed that before. EODAS is a combination system including sensors, computer, software, and helmet display system. J-20 can make those together to a final version EODAS,is not a surprise at all.

and again, I seriously doubt whether some of those red tagged components on the frame are components of an EODAS..

a fundamental understanding of angles of reflection, capability intent is being suspended to make a case for a capability where even a cursory look shows that flush fitting objects with a minimum of "approach" cannot possibly perform an EODAS role let alone EOTS

even if one were to be generous you cannot honestly state that that the flank components forward of the cockpit area are array modules. angles of coverage are wrong, placement is wrong.

Maybe those 'panels' are flight testing instruments?

That was my first reaction; they look like some high-end quadrophonic stereo system, complete with a serious amplifier.

1, Side weapon bay (suspected) were opened up.
2, The landing-gear were retracted in flight.
