The PAK FA sure does look pretty especially that side profile view. So much better looking than the J20.

    EMD Engineering Manufacturing Development....

Seems like the logic in that is kinda cattywampus.

    DEM looks mo bettah

Mod: I appreciate that this is your first post. However, be that as it may, it would be usedful for you to read the forum rules and try to post in a more comprehensive and coherent manner - especially as the first post can set bthe scene of perception.

Introducing yourself and some small details would be useful as a gentle lead in....

    Sukhoi T-50 / PAK FA - official patent analysis | aerospace news | robotpig.net - good article.
It's an analysis of the official patent submitted by Sukhoi.

Another article by P. Butowski, who closely follows the PAK FA development.

How are they going to reduce the frontal rcs given the exposed engine? Or is the plan to go back to nap of the earth flight, given the concentration of LO management features from the top down view

As a person who has a PhD partly on computational modeling I can tell you that you can make these models say anything you want. Without experimental validation they are meaningless. Often times your eyes and your intuition will be more correct than the model. When you are talking about LO management, where you are working with the dB scale (logarithmic) for linear reductions in detection range, there's the further problem that your signatures at the low end will increasingly be dominated by details, which these models don't even begin to capture. So, of Kopp to put a wireframe into his computer and come out with pronouncements on the signatures, is just rediculous. He's even aware of this, which is why he's so careful with his language (eg pharaphrased: the gross shape does not prevent vlo).

Don't get me wrong. It's fun and interesting to see these simulations, but they need to be taken with a very large grain of salt.

Nothing that man says can be trusted. It's not all lies, but he's so full of crap his eyes are brown and it's not worth sifting through the haystack to find the needle of truth.

Without even seeing the article, the first name that popped into my head while reading your post^^ was "Carlo Kopp"

(Although if this was a land warfare article, the first name that popped into my head would've been "Mike Sparks" )
