China is not concerned that the US may checkout the J-10 birds? Or a more advanced platform (not J-11) is almost ready?

Or the J-XX is in the pipe. In all fairness, the US already knows everything there is to know about the J-10. If US wants, she can sunk every single PLAN warships and bomb every single PLAAF airfield within the coastal area back to the stone-age within 15 minutes. Don't kid yourself. There is no way the PLA is going to stop a 1500 tomahawk missile strike.

Your rant didn't answer my question. I'm not here to debate if the US is capable of sinking every PLAN warship or not (in 15 minutes). I was simply asking if China is concerned that the US may get a closer look at the J-10s.
Or, China is not concerned because either the next generation platform is ready or the J-10s sent to Pakistan is not the same the PLAAF has.

New Light On The Chinese 4th Generation Fighter Project
General He Weirong's statement "pilots could expect to jump into the most advanced fighter jets in 8 to 10 years that will have stealth capability" has generated a great deal of buzz in the Chinese internet and his entire interview can be watched here.

Judging from the interview, he was possibly referring to the long rumored J-XX 4th Generation Fighter project based on the stealthy twin-engine J-10 concept.

A senior military officer said Monday China's military pilots could expect to jump into the most advanced fighter jets in 8 to 10 years, while President Hu Jintao called for a "new chapter" in the development of China's air force.

Hu made the remarks while he met senior officers, experts, role models and pilots with representatives from People's Liberation Army Air Force Sunday, one of the events held to mark the 60th anniversary of the air force.

China's national defense and its army's modernization are confronted with new situations and tasks. In accordance with the requirements of both offensive and defensive operations, the air force is urged to strengthen the development of military system, Hu said.

The same day, He Weirong, deputy commander of the air force told China Central Television that military pilots could expect to jump into the most advanced fighter jets in 8 to 10 years that will have stealth capability.

He said that the planes are in development and will match or exceed the capability of similar jets in existence today.

Worldwide, the 4th generation jet fighters, with the US-made F-22 raptor as the bench mark, is also known as the 5th generation fighter planes based on Russian standard.

They will have the 4S ability, which are stealth, super cruise, super maneuverability and short take-off.

"Compared with the 3rd and the improved 3.5 generation, the 4th generation fighters have overwhelming technological advantages. Its most striking characteristic is the capability of invisibility, which also could be called low detectability," Dai Xu, an air force colonel and military strategist, told the Global Times Monday.

Currently, the F-22 is the only in-service 4th generation fighter in the world. The F-35 and Russia's T-50 are in the development process.

Chinese 4th generation fighter is the 4th one entering into the actual development process.

According to Dai, the development of the 4th generation fighter shows the progress of Chinese Air Force's modernization.

"America is already equipped with 4th generation fighter jets. It clearly shows the direction of the development of the air force. China is developing the 4th generation fighters, which means that China's weapons are developing steadily but also indicates China lags behind in the field," Dai added.

China-made third-generation fighter J-10's performance is equivalent to US F-16 fighter, deputy commander He said in the interview.

"J-10's max weapon load is up to six tons with 11 pylons and its shortest take-off distance is only 350 meters," he said.

J-10 performing at National Day military parade will be showcased in an air show in Beijing tomorrow to mark the 60th anniversary of the founding of the PLA air force, according to the Xinhua News Agency.

"J-10 is China's first combat aircraft with independent intellectual property rights, equivalent to foreign 3rd generation fighters in terms of performance. J-10 will continue to be improved," Zhang Jigao, deputy chief designer of J-10 said.

Improved Design program of J-10 has been in full swing and its more advanced sister model will be available in the near future, an insider told Hong Kong-based newspaper Wen Wei Po.

    Green Flag-West 10-09 begins Aug. 8

Published: Mon August 9th, 2010 via: Nellis Air Force Base - Home

NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. -- Southern Nevada and Southern California residents will see increased military aircraft activity as the U.S. Air Force hosts exercise Green Flag-West 10-09 from Aug. 8-19.

Aircraft will depart from Nellis Air Force Base, Nev., twice daily for missions at the National Training Center at Fort Irwin, Calif. Flying will take place Sunday through Friday both weeks. Takeoffs are scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. with flights Air to Air Refueling and landing around 5:00pm then taking off again at 7:30 p.m. to land around 10:30 p.m. The exercise flight path includes areas within Las Vegas valley, near Mount Charleston, and north of Pahrump in Nevada; as well the Mojave Desert near Fort Irwin in both Inyo and San Bernardino Counties in California.

This is the first Green Flag exercise for the Pakistani Air Force and the Royal Saudi Air Force. Their participation increases the interoperability between air forces and the ability to safely execute Close Air Support. Units from the Army, Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps regularly participate in this exercise, which takes place 10 times annually and involves anywhere from 6,000 to 9,000 troops on the ground at the NTC in addition to aircraft overhead.

Green Flag-West's realistic air-land integration and employment training prepares U.S. and allied nations for deployment and modern Close Air Support combat operations worldwide. Aircraft work out of the 549th Combat Training Squadron at Nellis while the Air Force's Battlefield Airmen work out of the 12th Combat Training Squadron at Fort Irwin.

Green Flag-West provides a large-scale training opportunity that is similar to what can be found in Afghanistan and Iraq. Joint Terminal Attack Controllers imbedded with the Army on the ground direct aircraft to provide CAS via low passes, strafing and dropping bombs on targets or providing armed escort to convoys through the 1,000-square-mile National Training Center.

Aircraft and squadrons participating in Green Flag-West 10-09 include the Pakistan Air Force's F-16s; the Royal Saudi Air Force flying F-15Ss; the 422nd Test and Evaluation Squadron from Nellis AFB, Nev., flying F-16s and F-15Es; the 319th Air Refueling Wing from Grand Forks AFB, N.D. flying KC-135Rs; the Civil Air Patrol's Clark County Squadron located at the North Las Vegas Airport flying C-182Qs; the 10th Air Support Operations Squadron JTACs from Fort Riley, Kansas and USMC Anglico JTACS from Camp Lejune, North Carolina.
