C17 and F-22 Reprieve
UPDATE 1-Lockheed, Boeing warplanes get boost in US Congress | Markets | Markets News | Reuters
So the C17 will be kept in production for a little while longer anyways. Hopefully the UK will order number 7, 8 and 9 now. F-22 with 20 more planes on the books should keep production open long enough for more haggling.

They still have yet to decide whether the money for the F-22s is going to spent on closing down the production line or buying raw materials for 20 more. I hope they go ahead and buy a few more squadrons worth, but can't see the AF getting anywhere near the 381 they claim to need. Another 60 or so isn't out of the question though. It would be nice if the USAF could eventually have 3 squadrons of F-22s each at Langley, Elmendorf, and Holloman. That would "only " mean buying 60 more and would go a longer way towards replacing those old, worn out F-15s.
