An unmanned drone belonging to Georgia was shot down, on video, by a russian MiG.

The resolution was excellent. I would like to hear whatever excuse Russia can come up with. It had better be good!

Hmmm maybe Georgia should take a page from the Israeli, American/Others book and arm that UAV with a surprise for next time. I wonder what the cost of a UAV and a sidewinder or sparrow compares with a Mig 29.

I was impressed at how close the shot was at what I imagine would be a small IR target. Also, the Mig pilot saddled up pretty quick for that shot, he was loaded up and had a lot of overtake.

Abkhazia's separatist administration said on Sunday its own forces had
shot down the drone because it was violating Abkhaz air space. Georgia's
pro-Western government is sensitive about any Russian involvement in the
region.

No identification markings are visible on the aircraft that fired the
missile.

The radar shows that Mig 29 took off from Gudauta
in Abkhazia, Georgia. It's absolutely illegal for a Russian Mig-29 to be
there. The Mig-29 flies south, shoots down the Georgian UAV and then flies
north crossing into Russia," Nairashvili said.

overtake - basicly not the sort of thing you want to do....

( To pass a slower moving object )

Well I guess then the whole russia encroached the boundary and shot the drone has now been shot down by the abkhazians..good shooting and excellent video.

what type of drone was that..hermes??

Well the question here is why people arent questioning the fact the there was a georgian UAV flying over abkhazian territory????...wtf..they say russia shot their plane over a region where they are not supposed to be flying..

talk abt stomping your own foot...

If you read the article you would know Abkhazia is legally a part of Georgia that broke away in the 90s.
