In this modern age of aerial combat we read that the mutli role fighter has all sort of weaponry available to it depending on the mission type, multiple enemies can be engaged from miles away, so why would the fighter have to get so close to a remote controlled drone before engaging, and why was the drones camera filming itself being shot down, all very Playstation for me

1- The Hermes-450 is a very small and slow target. It only weighs 450kg and only has a 52hp engine to generate heat, mostly plastic (low RCS) construction.

2- Better do and eyes on to make sure its not some Piper-Cub doing sightseeing.

Two more planes were shot down this weekend over the "disputed" territory.
