Female Fighter Pilot intercepts Russian Bomber

Something I didn't even realize. We have 2 female fighter pilots on active duty in Canada and the latest graduate, Capt. Riel Erikson, flyiny a Hornet, became the first female to ever intercept a Russian Bomber on NORAD duty. Any other Air Forces out there allow women to fly fighters in this manner.

actually, females have higher pain threshold, can handle more g's, and their brain better suted for multitasking (so i was told by a med student).
unfortunatly only tiny number use that potential. if it true, that is.

You can actually watch Riel as she goes through the CF-18 Hornet conversion school in Cold Lake learning to fly and fight the aircraft on the Discovery Channel Canada program called 'Jetstream'. Not a bad program, I've been watching it...this was once the career path I wanted to follow.

Although this lets the cat out of the bag that she actually graduates from the school.

Turkey also allows female pilots to enroll in the Air Force, and fly in combat capable squadrons.

Not wanting to minimize Riel's accimplishments,
but it was a NORAD exercise.

I can't find the Canadian Forces web page where I read that,
but as soon as I find it again, I'll post the link here.

Nevertheless, if she is siting in that ejection seat, she EARNED it big time.

I watched Jetstream on Discovery and was amazed
at the complexity and shear volume of all they have to learn.

I totaly enjoyed it.
