I have never had a positive Raven related experience. Worst part about it is the recovery procedure and its propensity to get lost (and subsequently have to be found by guys on the ground). That generally makes it not worth the hassle of flying the thing. Preds, Shadow and the like are a whole different ball game and way more capable.

A valuable insight, ofogs. Having to find one of the wretched things in bandit country doesn't sound like a barrel of fun.

Exactly. Great way to tire and annoy a QRF, who soon rename themselves Quick Raven Finders

Are you talking about the GlobalHawk. If so when did it begin dropping munitions?!? And dropping reconnaissance pods wouldn't have the same effect .

While I don't have extensive expert knowledge on the matter, I was fortunate to see a Predator UAV in action whilst sitting in an engaged convoy in Iraq. Hellfire missiles are bad for your health if you are shooting RPG's and AK's at an American patrol. Call in for Air support and watch the UAV bring pain.

I should have been clearer. Predator and a number of UCAVs currently on trials that are designed to be bomb carriers.
