Numerous names abound, but Wright Flyer is the correct one

Was it the questions about your kneecaps that did it?

Anyone care to put one up while Nicolle digs up his question?

I'll give it a try:

Multiple questions but same airplane;

What company built a supersonic bomber but for security purposes disguised its development under a nickname that, much to their regret, became the official name of the plane:

1. What was the name of the company?

2. What was the name of the airplane?

I know this will be way to easy for Glyn, so hopefully he will let others struggle with the answers.

I will take a wild stab.
1. What was the name of the company? Convair
2. What was the name of the airplane? B-58 Hustler

Quote:
Convair thus received a full scale Phase I development contract under the Weapon System concept, using the MX-1964 design as a basis, with the further instruction that the aircraft would be known as the B-58. At this time the Convair design staff was using the name "Hustler" within the family to designate the MX1964; to the regret of some, the name stuck, and even became official.

Bingo. I should have known that our fellow WABer from my hometown would be that smart.

Your question.

Thank you rusty..........ok lets see if I can find one that is somewhat difficult.

In the US Army Air Force, the A-prefix indicated that the type was a light bomber or attack aircraft (e.g. A-20 Havoc). This designation (A) meant something entirely different in the Navy. Any US Navy aircraft designated with an A-prefix was an ______________.
