Right, they also used Ballons & Zeppelins, but the war also had the first use of a plane to attack a ground target. Short time later again the turks were the target of on of the first air attack, this time by the bulgerians. Your question.

America beat the UK in setting that record.
The hon CS Rolls ( of Rolls Royce fame) was Britains first aircraft fatality. He died in July 1910 when his French built Wright broke up in flight.

Dornier Flying Boat, 8 Oct 1939.
On October 8, 1939 a Do-18D tangled with a Hudson Mk I of No. 224 Squadron. The Dornier was shot down off Jutland marking the first combat kill of a Hudson. (Two "firsts" in one day). ![]()

A Sikorsky H-5 onboard the USS Consolation 1951? I think it must have been earlier though.
Following predates that one, SS Daghestan, North Atlantic, 16 January 1944. This could have been by a Coast Guard pilot and also not a USN ship though.

Tarek,
I hope you are feeling well. Keep us posted. This one’s easy. This is a paraphrased ditty about WW 2 fighter aircraft. Some are named by their “P” designation, others by their “stable name.” Their unique flying or appearance or handling qualities will help you identify the six aircraft. As an extra hint, the names of the fighters must rhyme. Name the six fighters: Don't give me a ____ with props that counter-rotate. They'll loop, roll and spin but they'll soon auger in Don't give me a ____! Don't give me a ____ with an engine that's mounted behind It will tumble and roll and dig a big hole Don't give me a ____! Don't give me an old ___________. It gave many pilots a jolt It looks like a jug and it flies like a tug Don't give me an old ___________! Don't give me a _____ ____ __, a hell of an airplane, I know A ground loopin' bastard. You're sure to get plastered Don't give me a _____ ____ __! Don't give me a ____, it was all right for fighting the Hun But with coolant tank dry. you'll run out of sky Don't give me a ____! Don't give me a ____, for night flying it is fun They say it's a lark. but I'm scared of the dark Don't give me a ____! Last edited by GAU-8 : 01-09-2008 at 22:27 PM. |

I am back home now, but feeling already much better. On Tuesday I was vomiting 12 times in several hours (and I did not know how painful it is trying to vomit when your stomach is already completly empty...) After I called my doc to get an fast appointment but failed to show up (and that point I was unable to walk there or take the SBahn), they called me and asked if everything was alright. After I told them that Icould not get there on my own they called a taxi for me and the driver helped from my appartment to the car and all the way to the Docs office. From that point I don't remember much, except that they run several test and started giving me several infusion. Then on of his assitants brought me to the nearby hospital where again they run several test (but I don't have a clue which ones...I was half asleep most of the time) and gave me further infusions over the whole night. Whatever was in there it helped pretty well, though I am still feeling kinda sick and pretty ko I can slowly start eating again and my father could pick me up this morning (or yesterdays morning, depending on your timezone). Yay for German healthcare.
Uhm about your question and to get back on topic, are it only US-fighters? |
