    Yes it definitely appears to be, although the Liberator did have early versions with a "greenhouse" nose the shape was different.

    I thought I'd heard the same thing somewheres, maybe they were reffering to the adoption of the chin turret. Hmmm

    Been doing some research: the chin turret (on both B-17 and B-24) was indeed added due to the frontal attacks, but in the case of the B-24, this resulted in a significant degradation of the plane's performance, as well as blocking the pilot's allready restricted forward view. So some solutions were tested, included this hybrid.

    PS: no idea who those men are...
