Thread: Question on Russian Colour choices

Is there a reason why this colour is preffered in the cockpit, as its seen in every Russian cockpit, I found it to be quite peculier. All the While Western aircrafts have black interiors in the cockpit, and all thier wheels are white, very chic and good looking.
Does the Soviets lack taste or is there a scientific explanation to this?

The idea is to increase contrast between the panel and the instruments. We have had black, gray and smoke gray panels. I remember that one company used a light green too. I personally like the smoke gray. But that's more a personal preference than anything scientific.

Our wheels can be almost any color. White shows leaks the best. Most wheels end up being gray because of the accumulation of dirt, dust and grime.

One of my friends just emailed me, According to him Teal colour reduces stress on eyes, therefore it is quite good in cockpit, especially for long duration flights and Russians dont prefer anyother colour.



Most American aircraft Wheels I have seen are either White, Gray or Silver. Even on the New Alaskan F-16's camo, they have white wheels.

There are also some US aircraft having the light puke green type color in the interoir cockpits at least in part. No other real reason than corrosion resistance and cost that I can tell, Usually we put these color panels in as blank covers for missions whent that system had been removed from the plane.

Light blue in Russia is a synonym for ''gay''........ :(
