official deadline no clue.
once a deal is inked unless you are getting used or reserve airframes its typically 18 months till first delivery then an average of an airframe every 30 to 90 days untill order is complete often times they are delievered in appropraitely spaced batches of 2 to 6 based on production times. You can expect the politiions to talk for at least 6 months before they decide to let the generals decide then discuss it for 6 months afterwards before an order is placed. add political time as appropriate based on the vaguaries for your government by country and their current military need. Oddly enough the threat of conflict tends to get the politcos to oder something now. |

For india to decide to order new airframes of a type allready in inventory like the flankers 2 years and then another 6 months or so before first delivery at least 5 before the possible delivery of a new non-native airframe or variant that is significantly differnt than whats allready in inventory. You guys have really weird major defense approprations there that seem intentionally designed to take forever and then get second guess politcally while they are supposed to be delviered. (not that the US congress and development proccess is alot better but since they don't import you aren't canceling something that is set inplace with another country so don't have egg on teh face quite as bad.) For the US to cancel something with boeing or loc-mart is a little like saying oh yeah hold the fries with the 3 burgers and large coke. That actually brings up a good point what happens with the new tanker if after the US takes delivery of a 3rd of the planes they suddenly decide in congress to only to get 2/3rds what was initailly authorized? I doubt that a non-US based consortium will be quite as forgiving?

I dont think they will take the F-35s most of the Air Force people are Pro-russian
and since no US Foreign Policy goes for more than two years I dont think it will happen. The air force are not much familiar with the american planes and they again require a lot of training .Where as they are very much familiar with the Mig's and Sukhoi's family |
