F-22 Exports

Why does everyone keep talking about who's getting the F-22? The U.S. has already given us that answer. The F-22 will only be going to one customer, the United States. These articles saying that it will be exported are not accurate. Our government officials keep having to say "No, it won't be exported", but for some reason people keep saying it will, which is a false assumption. The F-35 is the plane that is going to be exported. Just last week, the U.S. stated that it will be offering Japan the F-35 and not the F-22. No exports. Period.

US Pacific Command Chief Opposes F-22 Sale

Apparently, the head of the US Pacific Command has come out publicly opposed to selling the F-22 to Japan:
PaCom chief opposes selling F-22 to Japan - Military News, Air Force News, opinions, editorials, news from Iraq, photos, reports - Air Force Times

The article also has an interesting interpretation on how the US military regards China's growing military clout.

Japan is banned from acquiring any time of stealth technology. One of the restrictions in place after the pacific war.

The war finished 62 years ago when 'stealth' was not even thought of as a viable concept, so I very much doubt that.

Try typing in normal font pls.

Japan has no offensive capabilities for a reason. US govt has restricted them from doing so.

I tried that once but it was no fun. This font, size and colour is what I choose to employ in my posts. Now, who are you? We don't know, so kindly fill in your public profile and then go to Introductions and tell the rest of the membership something about yourself.

Japan's supposed offensive inability is a very questionable argument. The days of the F-4s with no ground attack capability are long gone. Please check the Kai upgrade on the Phantoms, their F-2s, Type 80 and 93 ASMs...

Also check their MSDF capabilities as well. I would be very hesitant to challenge them in the seas, if you read a bit of history.

Of course JSDF are not a global force, however, they do have a credible offensive capability.
