India's Su-30MKIs Grounded!

I read once that the Su-30MKI's of the Indian AF that they don't have any ECM gear. Has anyone else heard or read this?

Your source was wrong. The MKI does have an ECM suite, which includes Tarang RWR and Elta EL/M-8222 pods; same ones equipped on Israeli F-15s.

Because they would have no way to know when they're being engaged. Its hard to maneuver to defeat a missile if you dont know they're shooting at you.

Please explain in detail Jimmy. The Tarang RWR is just for the purpose you mentioned. Its a Radar Warning Reciever, it warns when there's a radar lock, apart from the El/M 8222 pods.

I think what Jimmy is referring to is that the first MK-1s did not come equipped with those electronics and it was sheer suicide for this kind of thing.

He said, not having an ECM is suicidal, not that the MKIs ECM is suicidal! lol.
