French Fighters

Since WW2 France has had some of the most important airplanes in the world (minus USSR/USA). From looking at combat records French planes have out preformed Russian fighters around the world, and pretty much broke even with American counterparts (IrAF Mirage F-1 vs. IRIAF F-4D/E). Generally nations that use both French and Russian planes prefer French ones due to better range, better avionics, weapons, comfort and range.

Little known fact, the IDF used P-51 Mustangs with special tools (and sometimes even their props and wings) to cut phone wires in Egypt during the '53 conflict.

bigross, don't forget that the 101 Squadron of Israel's Chel Ha'vir also used Czech-built Avia S 199's in the late 1940's. The Avia was a copy of the famed Messerschmitt Bf-109. Talk about macabre irony. Apparently the Israeli pilots hated it though (as did the Czechs) since it suffered from a high accident rate. On the other hand, it did give Israel it's start at building an air force.

I have always liked the Super Entenard. I saw some of them back in the 80's when we sailed next to one of the french carriers. I think it was the Clemencau but I dont know. It may have been the Foche. Saw some F8's along with them, but I still like the Entenard.

By they way, dude, they aren't called the IDF. That's the general name. Their name is the Israeli Air Force, or IAF.

I like Russian fighters.

They are cheap. They are rugged.

Disadvantage: They are fuel guzzlers and they are poor on avionics.

Whats the Mirage that can carry nukes?
quite funny that the French could not afford bombers and got their fighters to carry nuclear weapons.

+ I heard that the French Navy still uses Vought V-8's or something. Those are ancient...

I prefer Soviet fighters, especially the Su27 and the Mig 31.
