Apples to oranges. Living 1 month in any place doesnt make one an expert on it.
But it would be regarded with much less wariness.the objectives of a democratic China would still conflict with that of Japan, USA and India if it turns democratic. It would still want Taiwan to join China.
You are immature because you are quick to dub any opposition to your views as an attack on your ethnicity. If your views are at that level, then yes, I am well within my rights to point out what they are. I dont think you are a bad person or anything of the sort, I just think you are pretty passionate about the PRC and go overboard.I'm defensive because I have a different opinion of the "Chinese junta" than you? I'm immature because I'm accusing you of something? We all have views and nobody is stopping you or I from expressing them.
Obviously I dont, did you provide a link?- as far as I am concerned thats a red herring. You said he was a neo con, this that and he was still ok, fine. But comparing him to some loony like Pin who deifies Mao, whse actions I have seen for myself- seriously- you have to be kidding. You get the courtesy which you dish out. Assuming everyone has issues with your ethnicity when they disagree with you and revanchist PRC supporters, is not courtesy, its petty.you obviously don't know about the conversations I've had with Jeff then. It's about having respect for someone's view even though you disagree with it. Common courtesy.
Please dont keep going all over the place. First you claim that I show no respect since you are chinese. And now you claim xinhui dont deserve the respect and its harder for chinese/paks to get respect...well duh! If folks like Pin & others didnt do such a juvenile act, then it would be easier to take them seriously. What of wp2000, which conspiracy theory does he fit into?I love how he told me there is no such thing as HQ-9 (used that as the basis to discredit me) and then started an HQ-9 thread on CDF. But obviously, you can still have respect for Chinese posters, but it's just a lot harder for you to show respect for Chinese posters than a non-Chinese/Pakistani poster.
Fair enough, but your standards are different than mine. Set your expectations low, and all that.again, go visit the country, talk to the people, you will see. You think I haven't read more about Chinese human right violations than you have? It pains me that fellow Christians are persecuted because they are not in state sanctioned church. But I don't expect China to change over night and I have seen plenty of progress. Some of the people closest to me just left China within the last 3 years. They can tell you the same thing.
Its all relative, what you describe as better is still draconian by democratic standards.some do, but again, the rule of law is gaining more ground in China, so the situation is getting better. Despite Hu's conservativism, it's not going to stop.
No it wont, India has its own aspirations and interests. But that does not mean it is by its very nature hostile to the PRC.back in the days, a lot. Nowadays, still a bit, but not as much. China is simply looking out for its own interest. Frankly, India has far more to offer to China, but obviously India is not willing to accept the role as the little brother.
Well I know Japanese who are shocked by the anger shown by present Chinese towards Japan. Its all relative. Korean war, communism, taiwan, PRC support for NK, nukes pointed at the US...why would the US public be not wary of the PRC?actually, people in China routinely shocked to find out how much certain Americans hate China and see the country as a threat. The entire CNOOC fiasco was a total shock for China.
