I don't think anyone's going to bother to top the F-22. I see the next generation of AAW as a screen of small high-G UAV armed with some BVR and IR missiles, backstopped by a flight of F-22 for sniper work, all quarterbacked from an AWACS platform in the background.
For really hot zones add another screen of F-15s (or F-35s if they are not more valuable for strike missions) for extra shazaam. The generation after THAT maybe it's all UAVs with a pair of F-22s to protect the mothership. If I were in charge I'd be developing a missile/radar/IR combo that can track and hit the little UAV buggers. That's my opinion anyway. -dale |

Does everyone need a Ferrari? Look at Sweeden or Brazil, they might like to purchase a fleet of F-22's, but is that really appropriate? Does it fit the need? Currently the entire market is wide open with options. Look at the F-16, sales are still conducted with an entire array of options (that fit the needs). It depends on budget, economy, and the application. ~ Hk40 ~
