That's a pretty cool picture. AA-10 Alamos, AA-11 Archers, some small bombs.

That's an Su-30, and it's probably not fully loaded. I'm pretty sure the Flanker can carry more than that.

Correct, those are too small in diameter to be Harpoons. They're either Sparrows or HARMs.

Nice... are those HARMs for self defence purpose only or are the SHs cleared for the SEAD role?

Honestly, i never knew that hornets or super hornets were capable of using the HARMs. No idea how to use a harm without a hts. =D

Btw, Captain Drunk, whats the missile like thing that looks like its hanging off the port engine nacelle? Looks kinda retro... hah. Thanks for the pic!

I'm pretty sure those ain't HARMS. For one thing, HARMS have cropped rear fins, like the Shrike, and they don't look cropped in that picture. Also, HARMs are pretty dang big, maybe not 'Poon size, but a lot bigger than AMRAAMs. Finally, the fin profile on that missile is classic Sparrow, with the slightly bigger front fins. And IIRC, AMRAAMs have a slightly smaller diameter than Sparrows, which is visible in the photo.

But SHs can definitely carry Harms, if they're in a SEAD role, which as I understand it they're gonna take over. I'm sure the Electric Hornet can carry them.

Hmm perhaps they are sparrows after all. I figured Harms would be carried on the inner wing root hardpoints.

The last SEAD a/c i remember the USN had was the A-6. Was never really quite convinced abt the hornet and its SEAD role capability. Mainly cause not much has been published abt their SEAD ops. Only heard of 1 incident long long time ago, over libya... =/

Yeah, but that's air force, not navy. Does anybody know whether the Prowlers carry weapons? I thought maybe they could carry ARMs, but not sure.
