Probably untrue, but how awesome would that be?
Those were shifting seif dunes that inundated the Foxbat in an airbase that must have not been well barricaded and walled.

Also for an airstrike, why not use the Navy and its Tomahawks?

Because tomahwks are easily shot down in by todays air defenses you need something like the ACM 129 or JASSM.Also witha fighter you get more options and you have judgement something that a cruise missile doesnt have. Its just a drone with a warhead, it cant think for itself or defend itself (they only take commands) and they're costly, a mil bucks each. But the latest stealthy ones have more surviveability.

No, it wasnt. They removed the wings, sealed the engines and intakes, camoflaged them, and buried them. 30+ jets, MiG-25s (several of them were upgraded with technology we were glad to get our hands on) and Su-25s. They were discovered after humint sources told us about them.

Yes. Once again SAM is a part of air defense not an air defense itself. SAM + air force give much beter use than both separate. Air coverage helps prevent a saturating salvo against radars of SAMs, while SAM covered area is a safe zone where friendly fighters may hide.

It does not relate to Iran, but modern radars are protected by various emmitting devices which effectivelly full anti-radiation missiles like HARM.
