    Best-trained M.E. militaries

What are your opinions on the top three best-trained middle eastern armies?

    My choice:

    1. Israel. No explanation needed.

    2. Jordan. Their troops are known for their toughness, and many U.S. military analysts fear their elite soldiers can be a grave threat to Israel if Jordan turned.

    3. Saudi Arabia? That would be my guess. I'm not very sure.

The USA has the best military in every region of the world.
No man is free until all men are free - John Hossack
I agree completely with this Administration’s goal of a regime change in Iraq-John Kerry
even if that enforcement is mostly at the hands of the United States, a right we retain even if the Security Council fails to act-John Kerry
He may even miscalculate and slide these weapons off to terrorist groups to invite them to be a surrogate to use them against the United States. It’s the miscalculation that poses the greatest threat-John Kerry

I would say the most professional armies in the middle-east are:-

    1. Israeli
    2. British
    3. US
    4. Jordan/Egypt/Syria
The US has technology if only they could improve decipline they would be a much better force. No offence to the Americans but it is due to the conscript nature of recruitment that they have problems.

Saudi Arabia and Kuwatis are not non to be fighting men and have not proved that they can perform inspite of all the oppertunity they have had in the last 14 years.

.. ah ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

I dont mean to be rude but in terms of proffesionalism the IDF does not compare to the British army. They are renowned as having one of the best trained infy forces in the world. Confed please oh please tell me you were joking when you posted that rather amusing little thing. . But I do believe that neither the UK or US are ME militaries. They are there yes but I think that the comparison should be between those who are actually indigenous to the region, as in Israel, Iran, Iraq etc.

    heres something

I was once priveliged to be speaking to an American marine D.I. when he was visiting Ireland and Britain to see the training methods. He was a decent guy who had no love for the pencil pushers that get to dictate military spending etc. At the end of it all he was very impressed and went so far as to say "you know I think Irish and British training is like a high speed low drag version of ours" (for those who dont know that means better). He went on to explain that the gov have this "retarded" idea that "home grown is best" and that large scale cross training is a no no. The basic meaning being that the lack of cross training U.S. forces do with others reduces their effectiveness whereas we cross train all the time.

    while we're on the subject

I was recently very privileged to witness a joint SAS/Delta force exercise. The scenario was played out at the "killing house" and the 2 teams approached by heli. both helis came to a hover over the DZ and the 2 teams began to disembark. I was left with my jaw dropped to the floor as I watched the SAS hit the ground and set about going in the entry points while the Deltas had not even finished fast ropping of the heli. Now when they got there they conducted their part of the raid with absolute proffesionalism but this should make you think. Later they said they were nothing short of amazed by what had happened. I do not doubt that US forces can be just as good but if their gov keeps their vice grip on their retarded restrictions then they will never reach that standard. bottom line US gov should and top brass should give over interfering when their forces want to start integrated training on a large scale.

Please try not to post anymore of these. No offence intended but it looks a writing of a 7 years old kid.

About that cross training issue, I would like if some SAS/Delta force would come to my country and have some kind of military exercise with us, would be interesting to see how they would manage against defensive army. The SAS and Delta surely would be tough to beat no doubt about it

I dont think so fury you see that didnt happen in Ireland. I was over in the UK visitin them when that was done. So you see it was on the SAS's stomping ground .

Well, I dont see anythin wrong in Confed's comments.
It was a plain simple question, who has the best military in ME ?? USA and others.
But, later on it become home grown, indigenous and what not

My mistake. Then what seems to be the problem. I have not had the good fortune of interacting with your army, however, many of my course mates have.
In professionalism we rate the Israeli', British and French troops above the US troops. No offence, but it was evident in the manner the British troops conducted ops in Basra (Gulf War II) and the way in which the US troops performed alse where.

During the war BBC and CNN transmitted (by their 'embedded' jurnos) live a minor operation.

The obstical was a small double storied building with a hand full of adjoining single storied structures (in open desert terrain). There was a burst of MG fire on the US troops from there.

Method used for clearence:- 2 x tank troops kept firing from coax MGs the whole day. Then by afternoon one tank troop advances near the building and goes all around that small complex. Then by evening an air strick was called and a 500 pound bomd was dropped on the building.

That is not the way obsticals are cleared by armoured units or for that manner infantry units. In fast moving mobile battles delays only permit the enemy to re-enforce at another location. The enemy will keep launching delaying actions to deploy own forces.

No offence ment. Just an observation from a professional point of view. (The disadvantages of having embedded reporters )

No enemy (Iraqis were found though).

    Units performing well are exceptions.

    also no offence

Afraid to say our tree is right. U.S. troops do not match up as well to most West European infy forces in training and ability at all. That includes Irish infy, we have been complemented by the Brits, French foreign legion, Germans and Swiss. All of the groups we worked with in various capacities and are noted the world over as some of the top infy forces going. If the U.S. gov gets rid of some of the retarded restrictions their regular infantry will improve greatly as will all sections of their troops right up to Delta force.
It has been noted that Irish and British regular soldiers are a match for the U.S. marines in exercises. This should not be they should up to the same standard as the R.M. commandos and yet they are not. . Lemon sorry that I havent used Indian troops as an example here but I know nothing about them I'm sure you will understand. .
Oh btw one reason the brits seem to have much better luck in Iraq is because they know full well how to fight this kind of war. 30 years trying to beat the I.R.A. in Northern Ireland has allowed them to improve their training and patrol methods drastically.

I've worked with the Americans, British, and the Germans for over a decade, as part of VII Corps at Fulda Gap, Germany, and later on as a member of UNPROFOR/IFOR/SFOR.

What can be said is that for non-American troops, we are trained on more taskings than they are. I, even as an engineering officer, was qualified on the Carl Gustav, the FIVE-OH GPMG, and a driver. However, the term Jack of All Trades but Master of None comes to mind.

At the mortar range, this USMC Staff Sergeant was having a hell of a time, trying to man the FIVE-OH, didn't know which end of the CG was what, but when it comes time to the 81mm mortar, he took one look down range, set up the mortar without looking at the table, fired three shots, all within 10 metres of the bullseye, adjusted the mortar, and the remaining 7 out of 7 bullseye (ie, within 2 metres of each other). Our jaws dropped.
