Alright a quick T230 question, mine stopped sending SMS's! I mean I can receive an SMS, I can reply back to an SMS, but I can't seem to compose a new one and punch in the number and hit send.

Keeps saying Message failed saving in unsent messages.

Lots of people over the net have this problem, no solutions. For some setting Data-Comm/SMS to GSM helped. Not in my case. Ample free memory, correct service center number, correct GSM network selected.

I'm a die-hard SE guy myself! In my line of work u need that call barring feature, to avoid people by giving them a constant busy signal.

My first mobile was the Nokia 8110 (the one in the Matrix), never went back to one after that, for no particular reason. Well at first it was the "Every dumbass in town's buying Nokias..." but now I really need SEs.

@asim, thats wierd.

Tried sending msgs from other phones?

What firmware is the phone running on?
Better upgrade to the latest one.

To find out the firmware version use the following key combination.

Right * left left * left *

Right and left are the directional keys of your phone, the navi keys.

yeap, the GSM chip works fine from other phones.

Thing is it used to work. Then one fine day, not so much.

I even did a master reset on the settings, too much stuff on it reset all of it. A technique thats worked for me while fixing computer motherboards

I also saw a thread on this over on esato. Its been a recurring problem (although rare) with Sony Ericssons.

I didn't quite get that about the firmware. I'm taken into some menu called SERVICE. Does the firmware version = to all the gibberish written in SW Information? I'm not sure but I'm guessing this is the firmware: R2A007 on my phone. Its completely stock, no changes have ever been made.

Sam,

If Asim can solve the problem with help from you guys, then why should he buy another one.

They do cost money.

I am sure you can help.

Right now, I find my microphone is not working and I require it badly.Speakers were also not working, I bought a sound card, reformated by complete hard disks and I find that the speakers are OK but the microphone has gone duff.

Earlier, the microphone was working but the headphone only on one side. I bought a new headphone with boom and it is absolutely duff.

Any suggestions?

Now, don't go and say I buy a new computer!

Sam, already did. But since SE don't have much of a resale value here I didn't bother selling it off. Still have to use it every now and then.

You'll need to trouble shoot your way through.

Check out simple things like, leaving the microphpne mute in your sound settings. Hook your mic onto another computer and see if there's no actually physical damage to the thing.

Since if you're getting sound in your speakers, chances are your drivers are installed and working. Also check out Control Panel>>Sounds and Audio (might be different in your version of Windows). See if your sound card is chosen as your recording device in the Audio and Voice tabs.

If you're trying to voice chat, most VoIP (Voice over IP) software would require you to configure the mic and speakers before chatting away. Also the next time you have problems, just remove the sound card's drivers and reinstall them. (Right-click my computer, properties, Hardware, Device Manager).

LOL, my mom's always got these same problems. She's big on VoIP as well. I think she has a bigger internet circle than me too!

it was about 1400 Dhirhams when it first came out. I bought it for 1050 used for 1 week.

1dh = 13-15 rps.

Asim, thats the older fw.
The newer one is R4A014.

Upgrading should help. A complete reflash.
Is the phone under warranty?

Or be prepared to shell out some moolah.

How much did u buy the T230 for? Its dirt cheap now.
i bought it for 7000 bucks two years ago.
The same price i paid for my smartphone....erm.. the Ngage.

Btw, the K750 should be around 18-19k in Mumbai.

It was kinda cheap when I first bought it too. It was for my mom, she never liked it, she liked her Samsung! (go figure). Nice polyphonic sounds though.

anyway it was for 399, when it first came out. Its not even in the market anymore.

How can I do the firmware upgrade myself? Do I need some sort of wire or some port in my PC? I've never tried that before. I don't remember getting my phones ever messed up.

My next phones definitely going to be a PDA. Wireless hotspots are getting more and more common around Dubai now. I like to remain "connected" all the time and GPRS is just too slow/expensive for a 24/7 connection.

I hate dishing out the moolah! Unless its absolutely necessary. I just want to have a fixed and functioning phone to add to my collection. After 50 years they'd be very valuable!

I had a 500 Dh. Offer for my 8110 from this Arab dude! Imagine that! The Nokia 8 series after that have been so fragile. I'd agree with you, the 6 series and also the 3 series, have lasted longer. I used to have a 3210, but I lost that one. I think I even got a 3310 in between, for playing snake! High score of 3000+ on no maze option.

Hmmm..
@indianguy, the 7610 and the K700 cannot be directly compared.
One is a series 60 smartphone while the other is a feature packed multimedia phone (of its time)
Once again it runs down to the fact that what you exactly need from a phone.

A smartphone like the 7610 should be a good choice for the like s of me whoo can't be satisfied with a "mere" phone.

@asim, gprs is frighteningly cheap over here!

How does 150 rupees (about 4 us dollars) a month for unlimited usage sound??
